For those of you who are skeptical of or have never given much thought to buying foods in bulk versus their wholesale packaged counterparts:
I took the top left photo of a container of nutritional yeast for sale at the grocery store, priced at $6.49.
The top right photo is a reused container of the same brand of nutritional yeast, filled with nutritional yeast that I bought in bulk from the same grocery store. The bottom photo is my receipt from the aforementioned nutritional yeast purchased in bulk, priced at $1.75.
Reusing an old container and buying the same product in bulk, versus tossing my old container in the recycling and buying another, saved me almost $5. And while buying foods in bulk can have varying results, it is almost always cheaper than packaged foods, not to mention less wasteful if you reuse old containers.
